OK .Just HOW clever is this.. I was catching up on my blog reading tonight and ran across this lovely tutorial . I make all my own artisan soap ..so will have to see if anyone had a spare soap wrapper I can use ..

Gates and Cats :)

I caught up on the 2 new episodes of "The Gates" on hulu.com.This is one show i want to get on dvd when it is out . I worked on a couple of cat designs while I was watching it :) The arrowhead I made before bed last night. I added a few simple wire wraps and some small turquoise and jasper mix bead I had . THen i wire wrapped  a bunch of  beads and made into cute necklaces......they are gifts  for some folk at work ..

I  love the way this rock turned out when i wire wrapped it . It is a bigger piece of quartz mix of some sort that came form Iowa. The filagree circle adds a delicate look to the stone .

Carrot , Pumpkin and Bran muffins

Since I tend to eat on the go anymore it is a challenge to eat healthy when I am so busy. So i whipped up these yummy muffins this morning...I took a can of peaches...2 cups of grated white pumpkin from my garden ...2 carrots grated up......3 cups of museli bran cereal ..threw raisins and some nuts in that i had in the pantry...add a cup of butter and 3 cups of flour..2 eggs and the juice from the peaches.2 tbls cinnamon and 1/2 cup of sugar . Baked at 375 till done . Just a hint of sweetness and really good with a glass of cold milk.

I needed a new cell phone holder so i used a small piece of embroidered denim and made a bag to fit the cell phone ...added some fringe and some beads . Now I can tuck my cell phone in it when i am working out in the yard.....

New Designs and movies all day

I spent the whole day watching shows on Hulu.com and working on new designs. This is part of a bag of jewlery chain that was given me. It was all tangled and i have had fun detangling it . I used some of the chain for some new designs. I SHOULD be listing them on Etsy.and I actually did list one at least .the "Silver Shadows" amulet bag . I love the piece of rhinestone chain I used along the sides.

Then i made another necklace .......... and then a few more.. This tribal one turned out really nice . You cant tell in the pic but i used faceted crystal beads in several of the designs. Then the silver circle is all tiny rhinestones wrapped around it...

Tonight's design .........

Finally.....a chance to sit down and work on a piece of jewelry tonight . I was sidetracked by straightening the pantry shelves up and laundry .I have alot of pieces of chain that i plan to turn into charm type bracelets over the next week or so ... I have all my Fall cleaning done now so I have time for new projects .

Not Your Mama's Oatmeal .....

After eating Brussel Sprouts for breakfast today.of course i wanted Oatmeal for supper :)  I throw whatever I have alying around the house in it ......apples and apricots and raisins and banana chips and coconut and dried papaya were tonights addition..I can remember my grandma fixing me lumpy yucky oatmeal as a kid ......I like my version MUCH better :) I also fix it in a skillet with a lid instead of a pot . I will add spalsh of milk to it. It will be plenty sweet with all the fruit.

Playing around with blog backgrounds .....

If you are viewing my blog this afternoon and keep getting new backgrounds every few minutes ...tis just me trying to find a new background that i like. I wanted a Fall color but I really am not pleased with the choices available....... I really miss my collection of 1000's of pics and graphics i lost when the computer crashed this summer . Of course i didnt have them backed up to a disc or external hard drive ..sigh!!!!!

Quiet day

I have enjoyed a quiet day today. I spent it watching dvds and working on jewelry designs. This blue and black set i made for myself. The beads  are a faceted glass and really appeal to me.The white shell and blue bracelet is to be the Sept prize for my blog giveaway. I will be starting that in few days . I will post details when i have it all together .I also rescued another plant from the neighbor. She was tired of it. My house may look like a jungle come winter when i bring them in :)Then here is a cute altered art necklace using a reprint of a vintage halloween postcard . It is over in my Etsy store for sale ....

Baked Pumpkin ....

I woke up early to a beautiful morning ..... the cooler temps gave me a chance to bake some pumpkin slices with cinnamon...cloves...and brown sugar.They will taste great just like this or i can slice some kiwi and eat along with them. I did decide to save the white pumpkin seeds and dry them and plant come next Spring.  I wanted to take a picture of a patti pan squash too. I have had several people ask me what they are, I love to slice them thin and sautee with other veggies in olive oil and a bit of garlic .

My First Milagro Necklace .........

I have been intriqued by mexican and aztec folk art this last month. Thru my research of it i ran across "milagros" . Milagro stands for "miracle" . Traditionally, milagros (also known as ex-votos or dijes) are offered to a favorite saint as a reminder of the petitioner's particular need, or they are offered to the saint in thanks for a prayer answered. http://www.squidoo.com/milagros-charms http://www.squidoo.com/milagro So tonight i made my first Milagro necklace for a mother and baby .. A simple charm and prayer offered to the Madonna for health for the mother and child. It will be for sale in my Etsy store .......

Tangled Up Fun.........

I am working tonight on a fun project. A friend gave me a big bag of tangled and broken jewelry and i am having SO SO much fun fixing what i can and then taking rest of it apart to reuse in my jewelry designs.
I have moved all my jewelry stuff in the living room so i can watch tv while i work on designs ..

Upcoming Projects .......

I try to be as frugal in my life as i can and i love to fix up and even repurpose whatever i find on a weekly basis . I have several projects to work on over next few weeks...These will all be good as new when i am done and be saved from the landfill ...First is a yarn bag. I have the wooden frame to a vintage folding yarn bag. The fabric was gone but i found this frame and I can easily make a new bag to go on it.....
Then I am taking this old picnic basket a neighbor was going to throw out and make it into a sewing basket...... all it needs is a new way to close and carry it.Pretty simple ! I will make straps for it .Then the third project is to turn this big riding horse into a newer version. He needs a tail and a cloth saddle and couple of holes patched with some cute embroidery .. Other than that he is still sturdy and will look great when i am done with him......
